Are your ECU Tunes safe?
Are your ECU tunes safe?
With over a decade of experience tuning OEM ECUs across a wide range of vehicles, we specialise in the German marques that use Bosch and Continental control units. Platforms like EDC17, MD1/MG1, MED17, and Simos are some of our favourites to work on because they deliver excellent results when calibrated properly.
All of our tunes are developed in house, with a strong focus on data logging and understanding ECU logic. That approach lets us achieve strong, repeatable gains while maintaining smooth OEM-level drivability.
There is a common misconception that a tune must be perfectly tailored to one exact car to be “safe” or “good”. In reality, modern ECUs are built around robust control strategies and safety systems, and manufacturers deliver consistent factory performance across thousands of vehicles using standard calibrations. We take the same philosophy: our off the shelf maps are not designed to chase the absolute ragged edge, they are designed to deliver meaningful performance improvements while retaining the typical safety functions set out by the manufacturer.
For customers who want to push further, we also offer custom tuning options based on logs, and we can support higher level builds including hybrid turbos and fuel pump upgrades. The key difference is how far we push and how tightly we validate, not whether the tune is fundamentally safe.
It is also important to understand that final power output is influenced by real-world conditions. Factors like DPF soot load, EGT, fuel temperature, intake air temperature, and coolant temperature all directly affect torque and power delivery. This is why gains are always given as a range, and why dyno results can vary between runs and between different dynos.
We also take emissions and thermal safety seriously:
We do not rescale or tamper with EGT (exhaust gas temperature) scaling
Our Stage 1 tunes do not disable or remove emissions systems
Every software version is carefully analysed, and changes are applied consistently rather than using cheap, quickly made files
